Categories and Levels

Choose the level that best reflects your experience and apply within the appropriate PMU evaluation category.

Master

For artists with 2+ years of experience and established technique.

Designed for participants confident in their skills and ready for a higher professional level.

Junior

For artists with up to 2 years of experience.

A suitable level for developing confidence, gaining experience and entering the WAPMUA evaluation pathway.

Participants select their level during registration based on professional experience and self-assessment.

Junior participants may choose to apply for the Master level. However, Master participants cannot enter the Junior category.

Powder Brows

Powder brows created using machine shading technique.

Lips (Lip Blush Effect)

Lip blush and lipstick-effect permanent makeup.

Hair Stroke Brows

Machine-based hair stroke eyebrow technique.

Microblading

Manual hair stroke technique performed with a blade.

Shaded Eyeliner

Soft shaded eyeliner / eyelid shading technique.

SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation)

Scalp micropigmentation for density and hair simulation.

PMU Correction & Camouflage

Corrective and camouflage work on existing permanent makeup in a selected area.

PMU Practice (Latex) – Junior

Practice-based PMU work on artificial skin (latex), intended for Junior participants.

Participants may enter one or multiple categories.

Each category is registered, evaluated and scored separately.

How to Prepare for Professional Evaluation

All procedures are completed under standardized online conditions to support fair and consistent evaluation.

Timing

Masters: up to 2.5 hours per procedure (3 hours for Hair Stroke Brows and SMP)

Juniors: up to 3 hours per procedure (3.5 hours for Hair Stroke Brows and SMP)

FAQs

Who evaluates my work?

Submitted works are reviewed by the official WAPMUA Evaluation Panel through a dedicated online evaluation system. Evaluations are conducted using structured WAPMUA criteria for the selected category and level. Hygiene compliance may also be monitored during the procedure.

Any PMU artist may apply if they have a suitable model, meet the technical requirements and complete registration. During registration, participants choose their category and level (Junior or Master).

This is not a traditional championship with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. It is a professional evaluation system where participants receive an official score, evaluation result and professional recognition based on WAPMUA criteria.

Top evaluation results of each Evaluation Season may receive eligibility for the WAPMUA World Final alongside National Champions.

Participants need a stable internet connection, a device for live streaming, proper lighting, a suitable working area and a model.

The camera must be positioned so the artist, model and working process are clearly visible during the online procedure.

The participation fee is shown during registration before payment.

No. Prior competition experience is not required. Participants choose the appropriate level during registration: Junior or Master.

Each participant and model are assigned a unique ID instead of the artist’s name. Submitted materials are reviewed through the WAPMUA evaluation process using standardized criteria, helping reduce personal bias and keep the focus on the submitted work.

After payment, WAPMUA contacts the participant within 24–48 hours to confirm the nearest available online evaluation session. Timing depends on participant availability, category and level.

Participants receive a structured professional evaluation result, including score breakdown, official digital certificate and evaluation record. Where applicable, additional feedback or qualification opportunities may also be provided.

Your activity must be related to permanent make-up and be officially registered in accordance with the legislation of your country.

You must have experience of participating and winning prizes in permanent make- up championships held at national or international level in the last three years.

You must have at least one year of experience in permanent make-up training and a minimum of ten students who have successfully completed your courses.

You must have a minimum of one media mention of your professional activities or achievements in permanent make-up.

At least one of your students must have won a national or international permanent make-up championship in the last three years.
